Euro 2024: England held to 1-1 draw by Denmark, with last 16 qualification on hold
England’s hopes of early qualification for the Euro 2024 knockout stages were dashed after a 1-1 draw against Denmark.
The Three Lions now face a tense final group game to confirm their place in the last 16.
Harry Kane put England ahead in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Danish wing-back Victor Kristiansen.
Kane’s goal marked his 13th in major tournaments, surpassing any other English player.

However, England’s lead was short-lived as Morten Hjulmand equalized for Denmark with a long-range strike before halftime.
Despite their possessive play, England failed to create and capitalize on chances created.
Gareth Southgate’s decision to substitute the entire front three of Kane, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka midway through the second half raised eyebrows.
However, their replacements, Ollie Watkins, Jarrod Bowen, and Eberechi Eze, injected some energy but couldn’t find the winner.
Trent Alexander-Arnold struggled in the midfield role, contributing to England’s unstable play.
Jordan Pickford also had a questionable outing, nearly gifting Denmark a goal.
Denmark were determined, and were able to hold firm against England’s attacks.
Kasper Schmeichel made crucial saves, denying Watkins twice and keeping Denmark in the game.
