President-elect Donald Trump has named 27-year-old campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt as the White House press secretary.

Trump praised Leavitt for her intelligence, resilience, and proven ability as a skilled communicator.

“I have complete confidence that she will thrive at the podium and effectively convey our message to the American public,” Trump said on Leavitt’s appointment.

According to reports, Leavitt will be one of the youngest individuals to hold the prestigious role of White House press secretary, representing the administration and responding to media inquiries.

During the campaign, she served as the national press secretary for Trump and welcomed her first child in July, just before the election, as she shared in a Fox News podcast released on Friday.

Leavitt previously worked as an assistant press secretary during Trump’s first term and ran unsuccessfully for a House of Representatives seat in New Hampshire in 2022.

She has also served as the communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump has nominated to be the UN ambassador.

“I didn’t grow up in a political family. I grew up like most Americans in a middle-class business family here in my home state of New Hampshire,” she told the Fox News podcast.

“I just dove into politics at my college, Saint Anselm College, in Manchester (New Hampshire).”
