Miss Universe 2024’s first runner-up, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina shares her perspective on the value of respect during the competition’s finale.

In response to a question posed by a judge during the finale of Miss Universe at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Adetshina highlighted why respect should take precedence over being liked.

“I feel like being respected is more important than being liked. We live in a society where we often don’t feel respected because of who we are, and I feel like when you respect yourself, you respect others around you, and respect is really important,” she stated.

Her thoughtful and empowering response resonated with both judges and audiences, contributing to her standout performance during the event.

Adetshina, representing Nigeria, emerged as the first runner-up, finishing just behind Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig, who claimed the crown. Her poise, intelligence, and heartfelt advocacy earned her the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania and made her the first Nigerian to reach the top two in the competition’s history.

Adetshina’s journey and her insights have inspired many, further solidifying her status as a role model on the global stage. Fans continue to celebrate her exceptional achievements and the values she champions.
