A mother of two seeks advice as she faces pressure from her mother, advising her to go against her husband’s wishes to relocate to another state for job-hunting.

An anonymous post shared through popular X user @wizarab has sparked a conversation about balancing career aspirations with family commitments.

The woman, a nurse and mother of two, detailed her struggles after resigning from her job during her second pregnancy due to complications, including severe foot edema. Now, seven months postpartum and still jobless despite consistent efforts, she faces a dilemma.

Her parents have urged her to relocate and accept a job in a state eight hours away from her current home, which she shares with her husband. However, her husband is firmly against a long-distance marriage, citing concerns for their relationship. Meanwhile, her mother warns of potential marital changes, emphasizing the importance of financial independence and stability.

In a lengthy post, she wrote, “Good day sir, I had to resign from my job when i was pregnant with my second child due to complications during pregnancy i had foot oedema i could barely walk or stand up.

“I am fine now and my baby is now 7months old ,l have been home for year now and I am yet to get another job offer. My parents suggested that i come and work in another state which is about 8hours from where i stay with my husband.

“My husband said he is against long distance marriage. My parents keep pressuring me now I’m at the middle l’m confused. Please how do you suggest i handle it. My mum keep disturbing me with calls and talks and that men do change that love has covered my eyes but I haven’t gotten a job yet l’m a nurse i keep submitting letters but not getting good offers. My husband has been good to me i don’t want to spoil my home.”
