Transfer: Paul Pogba in talks with Monaco
Paul Pogba is in advanced discussions with AS Monaco over a potential return to professional football, Gistreel Sport has learned.
The 32-year-old World Cup winner has been a free agent since parting ways with Juventus in December 2023 and is reportedly considering a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club.
Pogba, who was sidelined by an 18-month doping suspension, became eligible to return in March after his original four-year ban was successfully reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The court also nullified an accompanying £4,100 fine.
The Frenchman had tested positive for elevated testosterone levels during a routine check in September 2023, but his legal team maintained that he had no intent to violate anti-doping rules.
A move to Monaco would see Pogba make his first-ever appearance in French club football, despite rising through the youth ranks at Le Havre before moving to Manchester United at 16.
He has since amassed 423 senior club appearances, scoring 73 goals and registering 90 assists during spells at Manchester United and Juventus.
Monaco, who finished third in Ligue 1, will enter next season’s UEFA Champions League at the league phase in September.
The club’s return to Europe’s top competition is reportedly a key factor in Pogba’s decision-making as he eyes a place in France’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Pogba has not played for the French national team since March 2022 but remains determined to add to his 91 caps and 11 international goals.
