Pogba accuses Juventus of lack of support during doping ban
Paul Pogba has accused Juventus of failing to provide adequate support during his 18-month doping suspension, stating he felt abandoned by the club at a critical time in his career.
Speaking in an interview with Sept à Huit on TF1, the French midfielder claimed he received no assistance from the Serie A side while serving his ban.
“I asked Juventus for help, but I wasn’t given it,” Pogba said. “I asked to get a fitness coach, as I was still part of the team.
“I had the right to get it. Let’s say Juventus didn’t support me, and that struck with me.”
Pogba tested positive for a banned substance following Juventus’ Serie A match against Udinese in 2023, despite not playing in the game.
Initially hit with a four-year suspension, the ban was later reduced to 18 months.
“I didn’t understand why. I thought I was at war with anti-doping authorities, not Juventus,” he added.
“I couldn’t keep taking my kids to school every day, passing by the stadium and the training centre, and knowing I wouldn’t be able to play for a long time.”
Juventus officially terminated Pogba’s contract in November 2024. The 32-year-old became eligible to return to football in March 2025 and is now a free agent.
He is expected to join Ligue 1 side Monaco on a two-year deal.
“I’m mentally and physically ready, and I’m eager to start again. I’m 32, but I still feel like a kid,” Pogba said.
Pogba made 132 appearances for Juventus across two spells. His first stint was the most successful, with 178 appearances, 34 goals, and four Serie A titles between 2012 and 2016.
