Man United reject chance to sign £66m Al-Nassr striker set to join Fenerbahce – Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United declined the opportunity to sign Fenerbahce-bound Colombian striker Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old, who only moved to Saudi Arabia from Aston Villa in January for £66 million, was offered to United on an initial loan deal.
The proposal reportedly required United to cover Duran’s full wages, which stand at over £336,000 per week.
Romano revealed via his YouTube channel that United’s leadership opted to reject the deal, choosing instead to focus on other targets in the transfer market.
“Manchester United were offered the chance to sign Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr, with his wages covered,” Romano stated.
“But they decided to turn down the proposal to pursue different options.”
Duran, despite his youth, has already built a reputation as a powerful, clinical forward.
He scored crucial goals during his time at Aston Villa and impressed in his short spell at Al-Nassr alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, with Manchester United under financial constraints and aiming to reduce their wage bill, Duran’s substantial salary is believed to have been a decisive factor in their rejection.
United have already signed Matheus Cunha and are close to landing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly pushing for another centre-forward, but Duran, who I now set to sign a deal with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, will not be part of the club’s plans for the 2025/26 season.
