Barcelona have intensified efforts to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United after failing to land top target Nico Williams, who opted to extend his contract with Athletic Club.

With the left-wing position still a critical gap in the squad, Rashford has emerged as a leading alternative alongside Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

However, the England international holds a major advantage – his strong desire to join the Catalan giants.

The 27-year-old forward is reportedly prioritizing a move to Camp Nou over other European suitors, including Bayern Munich, and has no intention of staying at Old Trafford.

According to reports from CaughtOffside, relayed by journalist Santi Aouna, Barcelona are preparing to open formal talks with Manchester United next week.

The Spanish side had been willing to pay €62 million for Williams but now aim to secure Rashford on a more financially viable structure, preferably a loan with an option to buy, rather than a mandatory purchase.

Rashford’s high wages and diminished role at United have made him a likely candidate for exit, weakening the Red Devils’ negotiation stance.

While Barcelona remain officially focused on Diaz, the complex nature of a deal with Liverpool, who have already rejected bids from Barcelona and Bayern, makes Rashford a more accessible option.
