Career

On October 27, 2021, Bnxn released the extended play EP Sorry I’m Late, managed by T.Y.E/EMPIRE. The Cavemen, a Nigerian highlife music duo, made cameo performances, and Steph, Perlz, Denzl, Timi Jay, and Rexxie produced. Vtek and Poppil combined to mix and master the track. According to Motolani Alake of Pulse Nigeria, it “projects confidence, wins, and ‘comfort.’”

Buju’s Sorry I’m Late tour began with his first gig in London on November 30. Buju headlined his first sold-out performance, which also marked his debut in Lagos, on December 22, 2021, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos. Buju officially changed his name to BNXN in 2022 to prevent confusion with Buju Banton and to have more distinctive branding.

He worked with Pheelz on the track “Finesse” in March 2022, which reached number 52 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart. In July 2022, he collaborated with British rapper Dave on the Jae5 single “Propeller.” The song became Bnxn’s first Top 40 hit in the United Kingdom, debuting at number 38.

On August 24, 2022, Bnxn released an EP named ‘Bad Since 97.’ The EP included renowned afrobeats artists such as Wizkid, Olamide, and Wande Coal, and Bnxn won The Headies 2022 Next Rated award on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

On October 4, 2023, Bnxn released his debut album, Sincerely, Benson. The album had fifteen tracks and featured cameos from a range of musicians, including Headie One and Popcaan.

In 2024, Bnxn collaborated on an EP with famous singer Ruger. Fans were surprised by the record, given the two artists’ recent animosity. It was titled R&B, and it comprised seven songs.
