Passenger causes scene after being caught vaping mid flight
An American Airlines passenger was removed from a flight after being caught vaping in a restroom midflight, sparking a heated altercation with a flight attendant.
The incident occurred on August 4 aboard a Phoenix-to-San Francisco flight. The passenger, who filmed the confrontation and posted it on Instagram, was confronted by a flight attendant outside the restroom after allegedly violating the Federal Aviation Administration’s ban on smoking and vaping aboard commercial aircraft.
In the video, the passenger accuses the flight attendant of assault after she reaches toward his phone during the exchange. She denies the claim but later offers an apology when he demands one. The passenger then vows to report her to the police upon landing.
“I have 25,000 followers that are going to watch this video. So, do you want me to release this video or are you going to say sorry?” he stated.
When the plane arrived at San Francisco International Airport, police met the aircraft and escorted the passenger off due to “disruptive behaviour,” according to an American Airlines spokesperson. The airline declined to comment on whether the flight attendant faced any disciplinary action.
