The Lagos State Government set to seal Dowen College over improper waste disposal.
This was announced by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on X (formerly Twitter).
According to him, the Corps Marshal of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has been directed to proceed with sealing the premises.
“This waste was traced to Dowen College in Lekki Phase 1. Such disregard for environmental laws is unacceptable.Corps Marshall of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps have been directed to proceed with sealing the premises”,The tweet stated.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the government won’t hesitate to take firm action against any institution or organization that violates waste management regulations.
This isn’t the first time Dowen College has faced issues with the government.
Recall that in 2021, the school was indefinitely closed pending an investigation into the death of student Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, who allegedly died from internal injuries sustained after being bullied by fellow students.
