Why social media handles are required – US embassy on new guideline for visa applications
The US embassy has issued a fresh warning to visa applicants amid recent developments in visa application process.
In a recent tweet, the US Embassy stated that visa applicants are required to provide their social handles used over the past five years on the DS-160 visa application form.
According to US Embassy, applicants are required to certify the accuracy of their visa application information.
“Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit”, The tweet stated.
However, failure to comply with the new social media requirement may lead to visa denial and future ineligibility.
Notably, the US has introduced new policies, including immigrant fees of $15,000 and warnings to immigrant students that could lead to visa revocation.
