Richard Mofe-Damijo (born July 6, 1961), sometimes known as RMD, is a Nigerian actor, writer, producer, lawyer, and former journalist. From 2009 until 2015, he was Delta State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism. Mofe-Damijo earned the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role in 2005.
In 2016, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th African Movie Academy Awards. In 2024, he received the Industry Merit Award along with Iya Rainbow at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Mofe-Damijo was born in Aladja, Udu Kingdom (now Delta State). He attended Midwest College in Warri and Anglican Grammar School, where he was a member of the Drama Club. He studied theatrical arts at the University of Benin before moving on to study law at the University of Lagos, where he graduated in 2004.
Career
Mofe-Damijo, who graduated from university with a theatrical arts degree, first featured as a police inspector in the soap opera Ripples before rising to prominence as the villain Segun Kadiri in the rival soap Checkmate. He had previously worked as a writer for The Concord, a daily newspaper, as well as Metro and Quality magazines. Out of Bounds was his first film credit as a writer and producer.
Mofe-Damijo received Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards’ inaugural ceremony in 2005. On January 5, 2017, he and Nigerian journalist Mimi Fawaz co-hosted the 2016 GLO-CAF Awards. On December 8, 2021, he received a Black Star Honour at the Rhymes on Da Runway event in Accra, Ghana.
Political Career
Mofe-Damijo was appointed as Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan‘s Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism in 2008. He later served as Delta State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism from 2009 to 2015.
