US lawmaker and Congressman Riley Moore, representing Virginia’s Second District in the House of Representatives, announces his arrival in Nigeria for what he described as a productive series of meetings.

Moore made the announcement on Sunday via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that he arrived in Nigeria “in the name of the Lord” and on behalf of the American people.

“I came to Nigeria in the name of the Lord and on behalf of the American people. Just ending a very productive visit to Nigeria and rounds of meetings. More details to come. Happy Sunday. God is Great! he said.”

Although the congressman did not give specific details about his mission, his visit comes at a time when several U.S. lawmakers are pushing for deeper investigations into the alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

Despite the Nigerian government’s consistent denial of any targeted persecution, some members of the U.S. Congress maintain that Islamic extremists are attacking Christian communities across the country.

Moore has been one of the voices calling attention to the issue, insisting that the situation requires international focus and intervention.
