“We thought it was the end” – Lady shares terrifying bandits attack on a Lagos-East night journey
A young Nigerian lady has narrated a heart-stopping encounter during her journey from Lagos to the Eastern part of the country, revealing how bandits opened fire on their bus multiple times in the middle of the night.
In a viral TikTok video shared by the lady, she explained that the gunmen were clearly targeting the bus driver, shooting directly at the front of the vehicle in an attempt to force it to stop.
She recounted that the bus was struck several times, with bullets hitting the front section as the attackers tried desperately to bring the vehicle to a halt.
Despite the chaos, the driver acted with unbelievable courage. Instead of stopping, he accelerated, swerved sharply, and kept pushing forward even as bullets shattered windows and tore into the bus.
Thankfully, he managed to escape the ambush, and all passengers survived the terrifying ordeal.
The incident has now sparked renewed panic about the rising insecurity on Nigerian highways. Many interstate travellers say they are afraid of embarking on night journeys as reports of violent attacks continue to increase.
Reacting to the lady’s account, one commentator wrote, “This is scary… Nigeria is turning into something else overnight.” Another added, “God bless that driver, he truly saved lives.”
With more travellers sharing similar horror stories, Nigerians are once again asking the same question: How many more attacks will happen before something finally changes?
