Ohanaeze Ndigbo backs Tinubu’s tax reforms, warns North on illicit gains
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an Igbo sociocultural organization, has stated that it fully supports President Bola Tinubu‘s proposed tax reforms, stating that they are in the best interests of the Igbo people.
After carefully examining the proposed tax reforms and consulting with relevant parties, the group announced its support for them in a statement released on Sunday by its Secretary General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo claims that the reforms will improve the circumstances of Nigerian workers, revitalize SMEs, and eradicate the evil of double taxation.
The group also voiced concerns about the hostility toward the proposed reforms, claiming in particular that the Northern region is anxious about forfeiting illegal gains in the event that the National Assembly approves the law.
