Popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over her advocacy for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body, citing the prolonged burial delays as reasons for her change of heart.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. His body was later exhumed by the Lagos State Police for an autopsy on September 21, 2023.

Speaking on the Talk to B podcast hosted by Biola Bayo, Iyabo Ojo revealed her intentions behind the call for an autopsy but admitted that the situation has spiralled beyond her expectations.

“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way. He hasn’t been buried till now. His dad says he wants a DNA test done, and I heard the court has granted his request. But I heard his dad has conditions again,” she stated.

The actress explained that her primary goal was to ensure an autopsy was conducted to uncover the true cause of Mohbad’s controversial death.

However, the process has been overshadowed by family disputes, particularly the demand for a DNA test on Mohbad’s son, Liam, by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba.

“I did my best to ensure that everyone was investigated, but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them,” she added.

The family feud deepened in October 2023 when Mohbad’s father insisted that the singer would not be reburied until a DNA test confirmed the paternity of Liam. The prolonged delays have left fans and supporters calling for a resolution to honour Mohbad’s memory.
