Asake is nominated for a Grammy in 2025

Yemi Alade, Tems, and Burna Boy, are a few of the African artists nominated for a Grammy in 2025 along with Asake and Wizkid.

Amapiano, the hit song from his previous album Work of Art, was nominated for a Grammy in 2023. Asake has worked closely with Nigerian artists like Wizkid and Olamide to produce songs that are recognized internationally for their catchy tunes.

The Rolling Stones magazine has released its list of the 250 Greatest Albums of the 21st Century. These albums were announced at the start of 2025 on the official website of Rolling Stones magazine and included Mr. Money With The Vibe in the 142nd position.

Asake’s first studio album, Mr. Money With The Vibe was launched in 2022 by the record label, YBNL Nation.

His debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, has elements of pop and Afro beats.

It has a total of 12 tracks on the album including Terminator, Muse, Reason, Sungba, and Peace Be Unto You (PBUY). Asake’s hits from his debut album were trending on international music charts in Nigeria, the UK, and the US.

It was certified Silver in the UK for selling more than 200,000 units. American rapper Russ and Nigerian singer Burna Boy have been featured on tracks in the Mr. Money With The Vibe album.

Asake was discovered by the African artist Olamide who helped him launch his musical career in Nigeria. Olamide is the owner of the YBNL Nation record label and has played an integral role in the success of Asake as an African musician over the years.

On the day of its release on Apple Music, Mr. Money With The Vibe set a new record for being the African album with the most streams on the first day.

African Giant by Burna Boy, and Made in Lagos by Wizkid, are a few of other African albums that have appeared in the 250 Greatest Albums of the 21st Century.

Rolling Stones magazine has taken into consideration the number of copies sold worldwide and the album’s position on global music charts to qualify albums for the list.

Lungu Boy is his third studio album

The Nigerian artist released Lungu Boy in August 2024 as his 3rd studio album. It has a total length of 48 minutes and consists of chart-topping songs like MMS, Active, and My Heart.

International artists such as, Wizkid, Central Cee, Stormzy, and Travis Scott, have been associated with Asake’s new album.

The song Active features Asake and the American rapper Travis Scott. Asake mentions the gangster lifestyle of African artists with references to cars, beach houses, and money in his song Active.

The track has infusions of afro beats, trap, and house, with subtle influences of fuji music.

The music video of his hit track, Active, was filmed in New York City. In the video,

Asake can be seen interacting with people on the streets, smashing a car with a crowbar, and visiting a strip club. It has received more than 13 million views on YouTube within a few months of being uploaded on the digital platform.

His single, Active, has sold over 50,000 units in Nigeria and was certified Gold in the African country to turn Asake into one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
