Osimhen arrives as Super Eagles camp reaches full strength
Victor Osimhen has reported for duty at the Super Eagles camp in Cairo, completing Nigeria’s full squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Napoli striker arrived on Wednesday at the team’s base, the Renaissance Hotel in Cairo, where the Super Eagles have been camped since Sunday as part of their AFCON build-up.
Nigeria had faced Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday without Osimhen, falling 2-1 at the Cairo International Stadium in a game where the absence of the team’s leading striker was evident.
Squad now at full capacity
With Osimhen’s arrival, head coach Éric Chelle now has all invited players available as preparations intensify ahead of the continental tournament.
Early arrivals included goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Stanley Nwabali, alongside members of the technical crew, before the rest of the squad gradually reported for duty in the days leading up to the Egypt friendly.

Players currently in camp include Uzoho, Nwabali, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Cyriel Dessers, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Raphael Onyedika, Ryan Alebiosu, Salim Fago, Chidozie Awaziem, Usman Muhammed, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Osimhen.
Focus shifts to AFCON campaign
The friendly against Egypt marked Nigeria’s final test in Cairo before turning full attention to AFCON 2025, where the Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda.
Nigeria will open their campaign against Tanzania on December 23, face Tunisia on December 27 and round off the group stage against Uganda on December 30.
Chelle is targeting a fourth AFCON title for Nigeria in Morocco as the Super Eagles look to restore confidence after missing out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
