Jessica Mbangeni was born in the South African region of the Eastern Cape. She was born on August 22, 1977. She comes from a long lineage of traditional praise singers in her family. Her passion for music began when she was six years old, and she began performing at church and neighbourhood events.
Jessica Mbangeni grew up in the rural Eastern Cape, surrounded by music. She began singing in school and subsequently in church. After arriving in Johannesburg, she joined a group of Imbongi and began playing at business events and weddings. Jessica Mbangeni attended the Eastern Cape Technikon Institution in South Africa.
Career
Mbangeni moved to Johannesburg shortly after graduating from tertiary school to find work. In 2002, she joined the Soweto Gospel Choir and traveled the world. Two years later, in 2005, Mbangeni began a career in poetry.
Mbangeni confirmed the release date of her live album IGoli, which was recorded live at Lyric Theatre, toward the end of August 2014. The album was released on September 26, 2014.
Her studio album, Busiswe Tribute to African Heroines, was published in 2015. Mbangeni appeared on the track “As’phelelanga” by South African singer Vusi Nova, which was released on August 17, 2018.
From 2004 to 2006, Mbangeni made his television debut on Dube in two comedy programmes. In 2015, she portrayed Nambasa in the eKasi: Our Stories drama series.
