Chelsea have reached an agreement with Enzo Maresca to become their new manager, succeeding Mauricio Pochettino.

Recall Pochettino left the West London club recently by mutual agreement.

Maresca, 44, has now emerged as the preferred candidate over Kieran McKenna, Roberto De Zerbi, and Thomas Frank.

His success with Leicester City, where he guided them back to the Premier League, has impressed Chelsea’s hierarchy.

The Blues will pay Leicester £10 million in compensation to secure Maresca, who is set to sign a five-year deal with an option for an additional year, extending potentially until 2030.

Maresca joined Leicester last summer and led them to promotion by winning 31 of 46 Championship games.

Prior to this, he served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, contributing to their historic Treble.
