Nigerians fume as the family of the late beloved veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu solicit funds for his burial.

It would be recalled that last month, the actor’s family announced a five-day funeral ceremony set to culminate in his burial on June 28, 2024.

In a recent update, the central planning committee, consisting of his family and friends, appealed to the public for donations to ensure a successful burial.

A statement jointly signed by Monday Diamond, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee; Christy Ejiofor, Secretary of the Central Planning Committee; and Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, explained that the ailment leading to Mr. Ibu’s death had consumed millions of naira, prompting their request for financial assistance.

Consequently, the family has launched a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs.

This news has angered many, who pointed out that substantial funds were already raised for him during his illness, which his family allegedly fought over for personal gain.
