Woman who became pregnant at 16 reunites with daughter after 60 years apart

A 76-year-old woman named Roslynne has shared her emotional journey of reuniting with her daughter, Lyndsey, after being separated for 60 years.

The emotional story unfolded on a recent episode of the popular ITV show, where Roslynne bravely shared her journey.

During the interview, the elderly woman, recounted how she became pregnant at the age of 16 and how her strict parents decided to give the baby up for adoption.

Reflecting on her experience, the woman said;

“Mum was very strict. She was very concerned about what other people thought.

“As teenagers during the sixties, obviously everything was going on. It was a very wayward kind of living and I was always out and about.

“I became pregnant. When my parents found out about the pregnancy, my mother decided from then on what was going to happen. It was shameful, nobody should know, nobody will know.”

The woman went on to recall the heartbreaking moment when she had to part with her newborn daughter after her parents sent her 100 miles away to a church-run mother and baby home in London due to societal perceptions.

Roslynne disclosed that she was compelled to give her newborn daughter, Lyndsey, up for adoption.

“The Sister came to me and she said you can go and fetch the baby now and bring her down.”

“I went up to the nursery and I picked her up and I told her I loved her and that she’d be taken care of.” the woman said while recalling the painful moment.

Unfortunately, Roslynne revealed that she has been unable to have more children ever since this traumatic event.

“Throughout my life, I’ve never really spoken too much about Christine as it is very painful. I wasn’t able to have any more children,” she said

Lyndsey, expressing her feelings about finding her birth mother, she said;

“It’s going to be one of the biggest things in my life.

“Nervous. Excited. Very excited. I never thought this day would happen. I always hoped it might do, but I kind of gave up hope.”
