The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) is set to host a roundtable conference to address the rising rates of sexual and domestic violence globally, with a focus on Nigeria. The one-day event, in partnership with the Women Affairs department of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, will take place on Thursday, July 31st, 2024, at the Henry Oladele Ajomale hall in Festac Town, Lagos.

The conference aims to bring together specialists from various fields to discuss the causes of domestic violence and brainstorm solutions. Notable attendees include:

Engr. Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh, Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, as Special Guest of Honour

Dr. Joe Odumakin, human rights activist and President of Women Arise

Adeyinka Wulemat Olarinmoye, University Lecturer

Mrs. Aderonke Oyelakin, Child Network Protection

Mr. Adedotun Ajulo, Esq., Lawyer and resource person

According to Comrade Gbenga Soloki, Executive Director of CAIDOV, the conference was prompted by the high number of rape and domestic violence cases reported daily at the Centre. The goal is to identify root causes and find lasting solutions to reduce, if not eliminate, domestic violence.

The conference will also feature testimonials from survivors of rape and domestic violence, who will share their experiences and receive counseling. CAIDOV promises to continue its efforts with additional programs to address this critical issue.
