A viral video captures the famous broadcaster Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat at the scene of the Ibadan stampede incident, where he made desperate efforts to control the massive crowd.

The video surfaced following the murder charges slammed against the organizers of the children’s fun fair, including Queen Naomi, Alhaji Oriyomi and others due to the number of casualties recorded.

In a now-viral video, the presenter was seen shedding tears as he tried to rescue a kid trampled in the stampede.

Eyewitnesses reported that the stampede began before the event started, as people surged into the venue. Security personnel had not yet arrived to manage the overwhelming crowd.

Alhaji Hamzat was said to have pleaded with attendees to leave the venue, even using his radio platform to urge people to return home. However, his pleas fell on deaf ears as the crowd refused to disperse.

The event which aimed at providing scholarships and gifts to children aged 0-13, was meant to be a day of joy and celebration, instead, it turned into a heartbreaking disaster.

Further details and the aftermath are still emerging, and investigations are underway to determine how the situation spiralled out of control.
