Calvin Bassey has earned a spot in BBC’s Premier League Team of the Week for gameweek 18 after an inspired performance in Fulham’s dramatic 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Recall Chelsea initially led the game through a Cole Palmer strike, but Fulham’s substitutes Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz turned the game on its head, securing the club’s first Premier League win at Stamford Bridge in decades.

Bassey was instrumental in Fulham’s triumph, nearly scoring a stunning solo goal in the first half.

The Nigeria international dribbled from his own half and unleashed a powerful shot, only for Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez to deny him.

Beyond his attacking contributions, Bassey’s defensive performance stood out.

He had 103 touches, the most of any player on the pitch, and completed an impressive 96.5% of his passes.

He also recorded two successful dribbles, three interceptions, one tackle, and two clearances.

The BBC’s Best XI for the week also featured standout players like Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo from Liverpool, Newcastle’s Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, and Alexander Isak, as well as Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham) and Pervis Estupinan (Brighton).
