Two friends find love after hilarious encounter with IJGB uncle
A young Nigerian man finds love in his female friend after asking her to pretend to be his fiancee to please his IJGB uncle [I Just Got Back].
In a humorous and heartwarming twist, a user on X, Babajide (@CRawkeen), shared a captivating story about how a visit to his uncle led to an unexpected love story.
The uncle, recently back from the U.S., wanted to discuss property matters with Babajide but also intended to pressure him about marriage. To avoid the nagging, Babajide enlisted a close female friend to pose as his fiancée during the visit.
The plan seemed foolproof—until the uncle’s prayers for their “union” turned the tables. To his shock, his friend passionately echoed every “Amen” during the prayer.
As they left the house, the truth spilt: she saw the moment as destiny, confessing her feelings. A surprised but delighted @CRawkeen found himself reciprocating, and the two sealed their newfound love with a kiss.
How I found love in my friend during a visit to my IJGB uncle
“I have an Uncle who just came into the country from the US. I’ve been trying to avoid seeing him because I know once he sees me, the discussion will center around marriage. I’m probably the only one left who has not gone to see him.
So, this morning,my phone rang I was preparing to go to Ibeju Lekki because I fixed an appointment with a client. I missed the call at first and the second time, I picked: First thing I heard was “Do you want to tell me you haven’t heard that I’m around”? Eeehn Babajide?
I already knew it was him from the voice even though he used a different number but I pretended and said “Onyenekwu” He said Oyenekwu nibo? Wrong number please, I’m sorry. And ended the call. I was just laughing. I concluded i was going to call him once I’m back home While at Ibeju, my mum called to tell me “your uncle said he called multiple times and it was an Igbo man who picked your phone” I said Igbo man keh? Abi he called a wrong number? She said toh, call him o.
It’s wrong for you not to have gone to greet him since he came I apologized and promised to go.Then she broke the gist that he told her he wanted to discuss with me about selling one of his properties before going back to the States. As I heard that,my ears stretched My mum said try to go and see him o, I said haa definitely this evening So this evening I called one of my female friends I like so much to follow me there.
I already told her -See, this my uncle is IJGB and he would want to start disturbing me about marriage. So act like my fiancee so that he doesn’t talk too much about marriage. She said okay! When we got there, he was so happy. He said “I’m so happy you came with your wife to be, that shows that you know what you’re doing.
He started asking my friend what she does, hope you’re not here to deceive him? And you know we are Ekiti, be ready to pound yam o. We all laughed So we discussed business, ate and all that. He even gave my friend dollars. As we were about leaving, Egbon said let’s pray. While praying, he added “God please hold this union, they will be planning their wedding very soon, Lord, provide everything that we need- and bless them with gift of marriage.
The shocking thing is my friend kept saying that Amen very loudly and with passion As we entered the car and I was about to start the engine, I thought I should ask my friend why she was taking that prayer that seriously.
So as I was about to ask, she said woahhhh what a nice way to end the year! I looked at her and said I beg your pardon? She laughed and said aren’t you funny? Do you want all those prayers to go to waste? I asked “Do you think the prayer should be answered? She said already answered!
I said but we are friends? She said yes, friends who already love each other but don’t know how to start. Abi, would you honestly say you don’t love me? Do you or do you not? I paused for a minute, looked deep into her eyes and I didn’t know when we started kissing! Pin pin pinnnnnnnnnn, Haa sorry we’ve blocked the road, let’s allow other vehicles to pass Two friends just became lovers, courtesy of my IJGB Uncle ”
