77k allowance: NYSC members storm market, buy live chickens, tubers of yam
Two members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have gone viral after being spotted carrying live chickens home in excitement following the receipt of their N77,000 monthly allowance.
In a video shared on TikTok by @thankie88, the corps members were seen walking joyfully after shopping at a local market.
Along with the live chickens, they also purchased tubers of yam, which they proudly displayed as they made their way home.
The federal government recently implemented the allowance increase for corps members, raising it from N33,000 to N77,000.
The viral clip captured the duo in high spirits, raising their purchases in the air while chatting happily.
An onlooker was heard congratulating them as they hurried home, eager to prepare a meal.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media.
