A Nigerian man, Adetunji Opayele, fondly known as TeeJay, has tragically passed away after being struck by a car while riding his bike. The driver, a woman identified as Biola Adams-Odutayo, allegedly refused to take him to the hospital, fearing that his blood would stain her car.

The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media, reportedly occurred on March 4, 2025. TeeJay, the Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Bumpa, had just finished a workout at iFitness gym in Victoria Island and was heading home when the crash happened.

According to a petition seeking justice for him, TeeJay was riding along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road at about 10:20 PM when Biola, driving a vehicle with license plate LND 418 JR, merged onto the expressway without checking for oncoming traffic, crashing into him.

Biola and her friend had just left a restaurant where they had dinner. Despite having a driver, she chose to drive herself while her driver operated her friend’s car behind them.

Though fully equipped with safety gear, TeeJay was knocked unconscious upon impact.

Witnesses rushed to help and pleaded with Biola to assist in taking him to the hospital, but she allegedly refused to step out of her vehicle. When they approached her friend, they were reportedly told, “She doesn’t want blood to stain her car.”

Instead, Biola, a healthcare professional and Head of Health at a reputable insurance brokering firm, stayed on a phone call for over 30 minutes while TeeJay lay on the ground, fighting for his life.

The petition further described the situation, stating:

After the crash, Biola Adams-Odutayo refused to step out of her vehicle to check on Teejay. Bystanders and good Samaritans rushed to help, begging her to assist, but she did nothing. When they approached her friend, they were reportedly told: ‘She doesn’t want blood to stain her car.’”

Eventually, the rescuers returned to the accident scene, placed TeeJay in a minibus (known as *korope*), and insisted that Biola accompany them, hoping her presence would prevent further rejections.”

She reluctantly complied, reportedly only staying because bystanders physically blocked her from fleeing.”

“The only reason she remained at the accident scene was because bystanders physically prevented her from fleeing, especially after she had already arranged for her car to be towed away.”

At 11:30 PM, TeeJay’s brother received a call about the accident and rushed to the scene.”

A good Samaritan who had safeguarded TeeJay’s belongings handed them over and accompanied him to the hospital where TeeJay had just been admitted. Sadly, past midnight, he was pronounced dead.”
