Sancho breaks silence after Chelsea exit, returns to Man United
Jadon Sancho has addressed his return to Manchester United after Chelsea opted not to activate the purchase clause in his loan deal.
The England winger spent the 2024/25 season at Stamford Bridge, where his loan agreement included a £25 million option-to-buy clause.
However, negotiations over personal terms broke down, and Chelsea have chosen to send him back to Old Trafford, triggering a £5 million penalty fee, as reported by The Athletic.
Sancho registered flashes of brilliance during his loan spell.
He marked his debut with an assist off the bench against Bournemouth and netted in the UEFA Conference League final as Chelsea thrashed Real Betis 4-1.
Still, it wasn’t enough to justify a permanent move under the club’s incentive-based wage structure.
Following the breakdown in talks, Sancho took to Instagram to express his gratitude:
“Grateful for the experience. Big love to everyone at Chelsea who made me feel at home, teammates, staff and the fans. Wishing the club all the best moving forward. Truly grateful, thank you, Blues.”
With his loan expiring on June 30, Sancho is now expected to pursue another move away from Manchester United.
He will not join Chelsea’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and remains a candidate for either a domestic transfer or another spell abroad.
His future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, particularly under Ruben Amorim, with decisions expected in the early weeks of the summer window.
