Benue attacks: Chief of Defence Staff confirms arrests
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (OFR), has confirmed the arrest of several individuals in connection with the recent deadly attack in Benue State and the ongoing crisis in the region.
This confirmation was made in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) and in an exclusive interview with Arise TV.
In the interview, General Musa emphasized that arrests had already been made, even though they may not have been publicly announced.
“Because it wasn’t announced doesn’t mean it hasn’t taken place. The police have arrested a number of people, and actions are being taken. Investigations are ongoing with the DSS and the police,” he stated.
He added that all security agencies are working together to ensure a resolution to the crisis. “Because we’re law-abiding individuals, we have to be sure of what we’re doing. I think that’s the critical aspect,” he said.
This update comes days after President Bola Tinubu visited Benue State following the attack and directed both the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest those responsible, describing them as criminals.
