Transfer: Manchester United eye free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Manchester United have initiated talks to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer following the striker’s departure from Everton at the end of his contract this week.
Sources close to Old Trafford told SunSport that head coach Ruben Amorim is exploring the former England international as a low-cost option.
Calvert-Lewin, 28, is being considered as a rotational forward, potentially serving as a third or fourth-choice striker.
The approach comes in parallel with United’s aggressive pursuit of an attacker.
Recall the Red Devils have already secured Wolves forward Matheus Cunha in a £62.5 million deal and have matched that figure with an offer for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who remains a top target.
However, Brentford are standing firm on their £65 million valuation.
Meanwhile, United are actively seeking to trim their forward line. Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony are all reportedly available for transfer, subject to offers that meet United’s valuation.
Calvert-Lewin, who hit double-digit Premier League goals in consecutive seasons from 2019 to 2021, has struggled with injuries in recent campaigns but is seen by Amorim as possessing a physical and aerial profile currently absent in the squad.
United are said to be considering a performance-based contract, with appearance-related bonuses and flexibility, to bring the striker to Old Trafford.
