Lionel Messi is reportedly in advanced talks to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, in a development that could reintroduce his legendary rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to L’Equipe, Al Ahli are actively pursuing the Inter Miami superstar, hoping to lure him away from Major League Soccer when his current contract expires in December 2025.

While Inter Miami are pushing for an extension, the 36-year-old has yet to commit, opening the door for foreign interest.

The proposed move would reunite Messi with Saudi Arabia, where he already holds a lucrative £18.4 million tourism ambassador deal with the Kingdom’s Tourism Authority.

If completed, the transfer would place Messi alongside high-profile players like Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Ivan Toney at Al Ahli.

Crucially, it would also set the stage for Messi vs Ronaldo Part II, this time in the Middle East.

Recall Ronaldo recently extended his contract with Al Nassr until 2027, ensuring both stars could go head-to-head once again in Saudi’s high-stakes league.
