PSG renew interest in Rodrygo as Arsenal stall over transfer fee
Paris Saint-Germain have re-entered the race to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, intensifying competition for the Brazilian’s signature after failed negotiations with Arsenal.
The 24-year-old’s future is in doubt following a peripheral role under Xabi Alonso at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite being viewed as a valuable asset, Real Madrid are reportedly open to offers not less than €70 million, with Alonso not viewing Rodrygo as integral to his long-term plans.
Arsenal remain front-runners for the attacker but are hampered by financial constraints.
Having recently completed a £51 million deal for Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Arteta’s ability to fund a move for Rodrygo may depend on offloading Gabriel Martinelli, who has drawn interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
Meanwhile, Al Nassr themselves are also pursuing Rodrygo, reportedly following a personal request by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Saudi club are in a financial position to meet Madrid’s asking price outright, a luxury Arsenal currently lack.
Now, ESPN Brasil reports that PSG have contacted Rodrygo’s representatives, reviving interest that dates back to last summer.
While discussions are said to be preliminary, manager Luis Enrique remains a known admirer of the Brazilian, and the Ligue 1 champions are actively looking to reinforce their attack following their Champions League title win in May.
