Galatasaray match Napoli’s €75m asking price for Osimhen, but payment terms stall deal
Galatasaray have escalated their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen by agreeing to meet Napoli’s €75 million valuation, but the deal remains in limbo due to payment structure disagreements.
While the Turkish champions are willing to secure Osimhen permanently following a stellar loan spell, Napoli are demanding the entire €75 million upfront, with bank guarantees, according to Footmercato.
Galatasaray’s proposal to pay in staggered instalments has been rejected outright by the Italian club, whose president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is unwilling to compromise on the financial terms.
Osimhen, who scored 26 goals and provided five assists to help Galatasaray win the 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig title, has reportedly expressed a strong desire to remain in Istanbul.
Sources close to the player suggest he is unwilling to return to Napoli, where new manager Antonio Conte has made it clear the 26-year-old is not in his plans.
He prefers Romelu Lukaku, and targeting Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez as best striker options.
Further complicating Galatasaray’s pursuit is interest from Al-Hilal, who are prepared to meet Napoli’s €75m demand in full and could hijack the deal if the Turkish side do not restructure their offer quickly.
Osimhen, under contract at Napoli until 2026, is set to earn €24 million net next season if he remains, a wage Napoli consider unsustainable, especially for a player they deem surplus to requirements.
Galatasaray have tabled a counter-offer of €16 million per year in salary to tempt the striker.
Napoli’s pre-season is set to begin on July 15 but Osimhen is reluctant to rejoin the squad.
