Liverpool have formally joined the pursuit of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes, intensifying competition with Arsenal for the €100 million-rated Brazilian.

The move comes amid growing uncertainty over Rodrygo’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu, following reduced playing time under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

The 23-year-old, who has been instrumental in Madrid’s recent successes, including multiple Champions League titles, is reportedly open to a move in search of a more prominent role.

Real Madrid have slapped a €100 million price tag on Rodrygo, with Bayern Munich also monitoring the situation.

Liverpool are prioritising the acquisition of a high-calibre attacker ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Despite already reinforcing their squad this summer, Arne Slot’s side are ready to add depth to their frontline.

Alongside Rodrygo, the Reds have shortlisted Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as potential targets.

Arsenal, who were previously considered frontrunners for Rodrygo, now face a serious challenge from their Premier League rivals.

The Gunners view the Brazilian as a key piece in Mikel Arteta’s attacking puzzle, especially after missing out on top targets like Nico Williams.
