An elderly Nigerian vendor was left in tears after thieves broke into her shop in the middle of the night, stealing 44 kegs of palm oil and 5 kegs of groundnut oil worth millions of naira.

The heartbreaking incident was shared on TikTok by user @beaofoodhub, who revealed that the shop belonged to her mother, a vendor dealing in palm oil and groundnut oil.

According to her, the thieves gained access by first breaking into a tailor’s shop before tearing down the wall that connected to her mother’s store.

“They burgled it between Wednesday and Thursday midnight,” she wrote. “They stole 44 kegs of palm oil and 5 kegs of groundnut oil. My mum cried like a baby.”

She further explained that the thief entered through a third street, broke the gate of a church, scaled the wall of an overgrown and vacant compound, then broke into a nearby shop linked to her mother’s.

From there, he accessed her mother’s shop and carted away her goods.

While combing the area, they were able to recover only 8 kegs. “We found his bag placed on the stolen kegs. Seeing my mum cry broke me. But I know God will restore her loss in double folds,” she added.

The matter has been reported to the police, and the family is hoping for a breakthrough in the investigation.
