Al-Nassr set to hijack Joao Felix deal from Benfica
Cristiano Ronaldo’s call for attackers at Al-Nassr may soon be answered, with the Saudi club reportedly closing in on a deal for Portuguese forward Joao Felix, hijacking his expected return to Benfica.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Nassr are in advanced talks with Chelsea over a transfer for the 24-year-old and are optimistic an agreement could be reached within 24 to 48 hours.
The club is also said to be in close contact with Felix’s representatives.
Felix had been poised for a homecoming to Benfica, with the Portuguese giants keen to bring him back ahead of their Eusebio Cup clash with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
Benfica president Rui Costa was personally involved in the negotiations, alongside super-agent Jorge Mendes.
However, Al-Nassr’s late intervention has shifted attention. Chelsea are demanding €54 million, the same figure they paid to Atletico Madrid, following an underwhelming stint at Stamford Bridge and a brief loan spell at AC Milan.
The Saudi Pro League side are reportedly eager to finalise the deal quickly, potentially allowing Felix to join up with Ronaldo and the Al-Nassr squad in time for Wednesday’s friendly against Toulouse in Grodig.
