Isak considers Newcastle career over, even if Liverpool move fails
Alexander Isak has made it clear he will not play for Newcastle United again, regardless of whether his big-money transfer to Liverpool goes through.
The Swedish striker, absent from all of pre-season, is said to have reached breaking point with the club’s hierarchy after last summer’s decision to halt contract talks.
While Isak is under contract until 2028, he reportedly viewed Newcastle’s stance as a green light to plan his departure.
Club sources dispute that account, insisting no formal decision was made to part ways.
But insiders say Isak told Eddie Howe directly before the end of last season, and again after the campaign’s final match against Everton, that his time on Tyneside was over.
Liverpool’s opening £110m bid in early August was rejected, yet their interest remains strong.
Newcastle are understood to want close to £150m before sanctioning a sale, contingent on securing a replacement.
