Soludo wins all 19 LGAs as APGA dominate Anambra governorship election
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Chukwuma Soludo, is maintaining a commanding lead in the ongoing Anambra State governorship election, dominating results from 19 local government areas (LGAs) announced so far.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) resumed collation at its headquarters in Awka after vote counting concluded across most polling units in the state on Saturday.
Election officials confirmed that the collation process is proceeding smoothly under the supervision of the State Returning Officer, ensuring that all results are accurately verified before announcement.
According to the figures released, APGA has amassed 389,789 votes, far ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has 91,592 votes. The Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trail with 10,366 and 1,230 votes respectively, highlighting the wide margin between the frontrunner and other contenders.
These results suggest that Soludo’s popularity remains strong in the state, giving him a significant advantage as the collation continues.
INEC officials confirmed that the election was held in 5,718 polling units, as two of the expected 5,720 had no registered voters. They added that 2,802,790 registered voters were eligible to participate in the poll, including 140,370 newly registered voters across 326 wards.
This election featured 16 political parties, including two women candidates. The INEC Results Viewing Portal has now uploaded over 99% of the results, allowing the public to follow the ongoing collation in real time.
Soludo’s commanding lead signals a strong likelihood of a second term victory, consolidating APGA’s dominance in Anambra State politics.
