Liverpool have excluded Mohamed Salah from Tuesday’s Champions League squad to face Inter Milan, but the club have opted against any formal disciplinary action despite his highly charged post-match remarks at the weekend.
The decision comes just 48 hours after Salah’s explosive comments following the 3-3 draw with Leeds, where he claimed he had been “thrown under the bus,” admitted he no longer had a relationship with manager Arne Slot, and suggested Saturday’s fixture against Brighton could be his final Anfield appearance.
Club-backed decision to Leave him out
Salah trained with the squad on Monday, but he will not travel to Italy. The call to omit him is understood to have been made by the club, with Slot fully in approval.
Internal briefings indicate the view that stepping away from selection temporarily is in the best interests of the player, the dressing room, and the overall club environment.

Form dip adds context
The 33-year-old has been named on the bench for Liverpool’s last three matches, a sharp contrast to his long-standing status as a guaranteed starter since arriving in 2017.
His output has also dipped notably this season, with just five goals in 18 appearances.
