The first committee has been tasked with securing the link bridge into Festac and putting an end to the vandalization of the bridge by scavengers, who have been removing iron rods and causing damage to the structure.

The second committee will mount surveillance to secure armoured electricity cables, manhole covers, and other vital infrastructure that have been targeted by scavengers.

The committees commenced operations on Sunday, August 4, 2024, and have already made significant progress in curtailing the activities of scavengers in the area.

The swift response of the local government is a testament to their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, and their determination to tackle the scourge of scavenging in Amuwo-Odofin.

With the committees in place, residents can now breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their properties and infrastructure are being protected. The local government has sent a strong message that scavenging will no longer be tolerated in Amuwo-Odofin, and that those caught engaging in such activities will face the full weight of the law.
