LG HOST CHURCH LEADERS TO FOSTER CHARITABLE ACTS AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The corporate social responsibility unit of the office of the Executive Chairman, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government organized a stakeholders meeting for men of God (Reverends, Pastors and Evangelists) in Amuwo-Odofin in continuation of the ongoing stakeholders meeting held across the local government targeted at corporate Institutions.
The purpose of the meeting has stated by the keynote speaker, Mr. Mark Idiahi was to make known the importance of Social responsibility and how churches can create positive impacts on society. He further stated that as Christians, corporate social responsibility should not be about legal obligations only but also a be a social structure for communities to feel the strong effect of the church by meeting the societal needs.
The counil chairman impressed by the lecture, coroborated the speaker by advising churche on the role and importance of the church to their host communities and how he was a beneficiary of the charity of the church from cradle to his adolescent age. He solicited for the support of the churches assisting the local government in fostering community development.
Furthermore, Mr. Adejumo announced the proposed Amuwo-Odofin Faith Festival by the CSR unit, slated for December 22, 2023. The event is designed to distribute free food items, groceries and sundries to 5,000 families by participating churches.
The objective of the festival is to get access to healthful foods, groceries and sundries supplies for the festive season and also inspire hope amongst residents unto a prosperous 2024. The program is divided into 2 sessions, Faith fair and praise night. The faith fair is a market where you buy without money, the participating churches will be allotted spaces across FHA field to display their supplies and distribute to families.
The meeting ended with presentation of certificates of participation to the representatives of each organization in attendance.
