Thuram calls for collective effort in fight against racism in football
Inter Milan’s star Marcus Thuram has called for a collective effort to fight racism in football, and in the world at large.
The 26-year-old French striker has been a standout performer for Inter, contributing 12 goals and 11 assists in 35 matches across all competitions this season.
In an interview with GQ Italia, Thuram acknowledged the pressure on him to be the “symbol for the fight against racism,” stating he has “a voice that can be heard more than others.”
While he understands this, he believes the fight against racism is not an individual affair.

“I don’t believe that an individual can change things, it is obviously a collective process. Also because it’s just a matter of understanding that we are human.”
Thuram emphasized that racism is not limited to a specific country, pointing its presence in France, Spain, the United States, and beyond.
He called for a universal effort to address the issue, stating, “It is a process of change to be embraced and implemented all together, each doing their part.”
