Inter Milan are on the brink of a historic Serie A title as they face city rivals AC Milan tonight at the famous San Siro ground.

The much anticipated battle will determine the fate of Inter in their Scudetto claims, with few matches to go until the end of the season.

With 14 points clear, the Nerazzurri stand a chance of sealing the Serie A title if they can escape with all three points in the encounter.

Inter have been longing for this moment since their last Scudetto title in 2021 under Antonio Conte.

Tonight’s clash with Milan could mark a major milestone for the hosts, as they aim for their 20th domestic title against their arch-rivals.

With so much at stake, the outcome of several key battles during the game could determine its outcome.

Portuguese forward Rafael Leao is expected to lead the line for AC Milan, posing a threat to Inter’s defense.

He will come up against Italy international Francesco Acerbi, who has also proven himself as a defensive specialist against top strikers.

With Leao likely to operate as a false nine, his battles with Inter defenders Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni, as well as his former teammate Hakan Calhanoglu, will be crucial in shaping Milan’s attacking threat.

All eyes will also be on Calhanoglu as he faces his former club.

Milan coach Stefano Pioli will have to rely on Tijjani Reijnders and Yacine Adli in midfield to contain the Turkish playmaker.

Adli’s defensive duties is deemed vital in blocking Calhanoglu’s passing lanes and disrupting Inter’s build-up play.

A potential mismatch could unfold on Inter’s left flank, with Federico Dimarco facing Milan’s Davide Calabria.

Dimarco has been a standout performer at left-back this season, contributing in attack with his goals and assists.

His battle with Calabria, who has struggled for form recently, could be decisive in Inter’s attacks.

Simone Inzaghi might likely exploit this flank to create opportunities for Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

However, Milan’s Yunus Musah will also be there to provide defensive support to Calabria.

Kick-off time for the showdown at San Siro is set for 7:45pm tonight.
