Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, has promised to bring back the club’s identity as he begins his tenure at Old Trafford.

Known for his eloquence, the Portuguese tactician emphasized character, teamwork and identity over tactics in his first interview since taking charge.

“A lot of people talk about formations, but for Manchester United, it’s not about systems,” Amorim stated.

“It’s the character of the players and the way they see the club. That identity, the fight, the enjoyment of playing—that’s what we must rebuild.”

Amorim’s comments come as United look to move past the mixed reign of Erik ten Hag.

Despite winning two cups, the previous regime left fans questioning the team’s direction.

The new boss, likened to “The Poet” by Cristiano Ronaldo for his use of words, aims to unite the squad.

“The most important thing is to create principles and character,” Amorim said. “If our players wear the shirt, they must understand they represent Manchester United.

“Winning is essential, but winning with identity is what I am focused on,” he added.

Amorim, who transformed Sporting Lisbon into champions during his four-year tenure, is clear-eyed about the challenges ahead.

With no promises of quick fixes, he insists on building a foundation for the players, rooted in teamwork and discipline.
