Pep Guardiola vows to revive Man City amid slump
Pep Guardiola has pledged to reverse Manchester City’s poor run of form, following their 1-1 draw with Everton on Boxing Day.
The result left the reigning Premier League champions in seventh place, five points off the top four, and a staggering 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool, who hold a game in hand.
The draw marked City’s 13th game in all competitions with only one win, raising concerns about their Champions League qualification hopes for the first time under Guardiola’s tenure.
Despite the setbacks, the 53-year-old manager, who recently extended his contract by two years, remains determined to lead a resurgence.

“I will not give up,” Guardiola said. “I want to do it. Everybody wants it. I don’t want to disappoint the club, the fans, or anyone who loves this team.”
Guardiola reflected on the challenges, attributing the slump to injuries sidelining several key players.
He highlighted the unprecedented consistency of his team during their four consecutive Premier League title wins.
The Spaniard dismissed the notion that the poor results have dampened his resolve.
Instead, he emphasized his commitment to restoring the team’s form, noting their spirited training sessions and signs of improvement.
With a favourable run of fixtures ahead—starting with Leicester City, followed by three other teams from the lower half of the table—Guardiola views the coming weeks as an opportunity to reignite City’s campaign.
