Transfer: Chelsea lead race to sign Kobbie Mainoo following Man United contract deadlock
Chelsea are reportedly frontrunners to sign Manchester United’s highly-rated midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The Mail reports that the 18-year-old, who has been a standout performer for United this season, is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford as negotiations over a new contract have stalled.
Despite being under contract until 2027, the Red Devils are struggling to offer Mainoo terms that align with their top earners due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints.
Mainoo is also said to have concerns about United’s trajectory, including their lack of a consistent Champions League presence, which has cast doubt on his long-term commitment to the club.

Chelsea, under the ownership of Todd Boehly, are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to swoop in.
Boehly has made it a priority to recruit elite young talents, and Mainoo is said to fit the profile.
