The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has issued an apology to its customers following widespread power outages across its service areas.

The disruptions, which impacted several 11kV feeders, were caused by a mix of forced outages, load shedding, earth faults, and disconnections due to non-payment.

In a press release posted on IBEDC’s X account late Saturday, the company provided details about the affected feeders and attributed the outages to planned maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), as well as unforeseen earth faults.

The statement urged customers to promptly report faults and settle their bills to prevent further disruptions.

We sincerely apologize for failing to meet the expected supply hours on your feeder due to TCN’s planned outages, TCN load shedding, IBEDC forced outages, load shedding, earth faults, and disconnections for non-payment.

Please note that most of the affected feeders have been restored, except the Stadium 11kV feeder, which remains out due to disconnection for non-payment. We remain committed to providing the estimated supply hours,” the release stated.

IBEDC also encouraged customers to contact their service centers or the customer care hotline in case of emergencies, advising against attempting to resolve issues through self-help.
