Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Alphonso Davies have ended, as the Bayern Munich left-back is set to renew his contract with the Bundesliga club until 2030.

Reports indicate that Davies’ new deal will see him earn €15 million gross annually.

Negotiations between Bayern and the player’s agent, Nedal Huoseh, had been ongoing, with discussions also involving potential suitors such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Despite initial confidence from Real Madrid that they could secure the Canadian on a free transfer, Bayern Munich managed to persuade Davies to remain in Bavaria.

Madrid had reportedly agreed terms with the player on two occasions but withdrew due to dissatisfaction with the agent’s demands for improved terms.

Davies’ decision to stay leaves Real Madrid without their primary target to address concerns at left-back.

The Spanish club may now explore alternatives, including Girona’s Miguel Gutiérrez, who has a €9 million buyback clause.
